Subterranean Tide

Through art - we can almost touch divinity. And we are merely tiny individuals hanging out in this universe creating beyond what was thought possible. Musicians are constantly evolving just as we are as a species and they are continually giving us the gift of music. This netlabel serves as a platform to bring together different sound artists and to briefly experience the poetry of sound within ourselves.

"J’avais rencontré la lune et l’océan discutant de choses et d’autres, secrètement, un soir, assis, à ne penser a rien, à l’abri du regard des hommes, insoumis et debout, ils me disaient alors, de me méfier du reste du monde quand il croyait m’appartenir, quand il était préférable de n’appartenir à rien. Et le soleil me dit alors J’ai des règles d’or, Qui ne m’appartiennent plus, Et les nuits froides les entendent, Car ce sont elles qui les chuchotent quand je...

Celestial Matter, the fragments of objects of any form that orbit, fly or remain still in the vast darkness of our universe, a wondrous thing when thought about, and even more amazing when you stare up at a night sky and see these objects in their luminosity. But have you heard celestial matter? For new US netlabel Subterranean Tide’s first release this is what they have aimed and succeeded in capturing, that essence of turning one’s head to the sky and hearing the celestial bodies that...

What caught my attention first when listening to "Persistance" was its subtlety. Through this balmy ambience I found myself in a complete relaxed state. Three thoroughly constructed pieces of refined, gentle and serene moments. With both light and dark rhythmic features, “Persistance” reflects our own fragile beings. The artwork conveys a persistent weathering and tearing away at the surface. This reminds me of the music – tearing away itself, slowly chipping off textures and...

I painted a thousand words on the belly of the universe. And in my hands the colors pour over, embalming humanity and tinting tears. I traced upon the sky and knitted in the tides. It begins with a hesitant crackle and slowly builds with high pitched frequencies, and layer upon layer Fernando builds his piece, much like a painter would layer their colors upon one another to create voluminous textures. Carvalho joins the Subterranean Tide roster after releases with Somehow and Twisted Treeline...

And within a few moments of a tormented solitude a following occurs of the most tranquil stability resting sweetly again in the arms of an endurance of an adored vulnerability lined with silk. ~Emily Loren Moss Ferrell "Brazilian artist Gilmar Monte (Gimu) brings us a thick, swirling ambient work; a slowly constricting disquieted journey through vast, chilly ruins. Densely layered drones and crackling textures suggest a desolate, windswept world, long since abandoned to the elements. As...

When you enter the realm of sounds, designed by Bobby Jones you can only stare in awe. There is always a raw emotion flowing at the surface that penetrates your inside deeply. And you feel drawn to it, like a powerful magnet. And this sculpture that feels raw becomes transparent. What at first feels so strong is after all very fragile. This is, what I think Bobby Jones shows in all its glory. And this apparent contradicting feeling of bleakness and passion, is at the core of being. What I find...

Endless Intermission stranded the sun bursts weeping for a resurgence where deserts parted and rooftops once moaned nursing a void petrified and waiting in an endless intermission of dust For me the notion of an endless intermission is something that we all eventually experience when we pass from this life. There are so many things that you wish you would have done before your time comes, that when your consciousness does finally give way for the final time you enter the endless intermission...

I rotate around the sun climbing not really climbing clinging to an orbital wave that rises gracefully and twirls among the stars. A Comet's Tale originated from early discussions with Emily Ferrell about a release with the Subterranean Tide label. I had mentioned that I always wanted to do a release based around my interests in astronomy and a day later Emily came back with the evocative poem that graces the cover art. That poem directly triggered the idea of following the path of a comet from...

A Song  I had wanted a quiet testament and I had wanted, among other things, a song. That was to be of a like monotony. (A grace Simply. Very very quiet. A murmur of some lost thrush, though I have never seen one. Which was you then. Sitting and so, at peace, so very much now this same quiet. A song. And of you the sign now, surely, of a gross perpetuity (which is not reluctant, or if it is, it is no longer important. A song. Which one sings, if he sings it, with care. ~ Robert Creeley...

Winter brushed by a burnt sky we will burn together in the plaster of a cold gail pounding upon our breasts with the charms of the afternoon chill and enchanted voices we rest with the souls of winter French sound artist David Teboul (Linear Bells) graces us with a captivating ambient composition: a single long-form song. The recording slowly unfolds, one petal at a time, over its forty minute length. Cellos gently swell and fade, quivering ever so slightly. Tiny showers of rain and wind are...

Fabio Keiner brings to us an exemplary ambient improvisation primarily using IOON's synth samples. Ioon kindly posted these samples on Relaxed Machinery's site for free use and the name is derived from the Paranoia Synth. In addition to a tribute to these samples, Keiner uses vocal cries from Transmission samples, cello/string improvisation played and created by himself, and various other samples are used and reworked from freesound.org, both including didgeridoo drones from 'Mystified' and...

Foliage Song  Now at last all spells are cast into ash,  and fall has settled down her sorrow wings  from fragrant summer remnants  to the smoking embers of field-burned  true autumn, all hard-bit cold in the  naked black of maples bent in fallow gust,  of solemn apples stitched with a pall  of leaves upon the sodden, weedy ground.  Time to see all windows battened shut  against the leaden grey first frost,  time for labored breath to fog in  these drafty hallways of splintered ...

The amnesia of the evening is doubling back on itself, fraying and corroding, sending its spent black swirls and mists to coil along buckled staircases and walls, letting slip through the dooryard into the depthless woods, a strange decayed arithmetic of cold yearning and blood offerings. Now forgotten twilight blisters the far corners of the landscape in a blazing storm of orange, and...
